Smallest and Largest Birds
The smallest bird in the world is the Bee Hummingbird, Mellisuga Helenae, is found in Cuba. It weighs approximately less than 2 grams—that is less than two paper clips! How teeny tinie. It is about 5 cm (2 inches) long—smaller than an average sized toothpick. This bird is so cute.

The largest bird in the world is the Ostrich and as it were it lays the largest eggs as well. The North African Ostrich is approximately 2.74 m (9 feet tall!!!) and weights in at about 154 kilograms (340 lbs!!!!) THAT would be a scary bird. Ostriches can run to 46 miles per hour too. This is not a bird to mess with.
